Discover Wallace :: Services
The small town of Wallace goes above and beyond standard services offering
amenities that are essential for a growing economy and community. The
Town of Wallace provides 24-hour police protection and its own 24-hour
dispatch center. The fire department has looked ahead to the future by
modernizing equipment and achieving an ISO rating in the top 26% of all
fire departments in the United States. The Wallace Fire Department shows
pride in its heritage by their creation of the Thomas Townsen Fire museum,
which showcases a fully restored 1926 Wallace fire truck.
This fire department is staffed by community citizens who volunteer long
hours to help
ensure the safety of area businesses and residents. Capacities for producing
water and
treatment of sewer go well beyond that of most towns it's size, with water
from wells at 6 million gallons a day and sewer capacity at 5.5 million
gallons a day. Being at such levels allows the Town of Wallace to be in
a position of looking for growth instead of the hard position of dealing
with too much growth.
For many years, the town has operated the Thelma Dingus Bryant Library,
well stocked with the most recent bestsellers as well as providing state-of-the-art
technology for Internet usage, research and teleconferencing. Offerings
from computer classes to summer story hour are open to the public.
